Thinkpad to ThinkStations: The New Desktop Offering from Lenovo

For the past few months, Lenovo has been working on a new line of desktop computers, called ThinkStations, that are rugged, tough, and designed to serve in tough environments. They are part of a larger effort at Lenovo to bring ThinkPad technology to more consumers and to show the world that Lenovo is a technology company that can’t be ignored.

New Desktop Offerings from Lenovo

Lenovo has unveiled a new range of ThinkStations, and while the company has been working on an update for years, the new line of ThinkStations desktop workstations supports PCIe Gen 4. They are thin, light, and available in a wide variety of sizes, perfect for home or business use. They feature Lenovo’s signature ThinkCentre security features, including facial recognition, fingerprint login, and secure boot. Let’s get to know more about these new offerings.

  • ThinkStation P350 Tiny

The new ThinkStation P350 Tiny is the new home for your Lenovo ThinkVantage tools, which make your IT life easier. It has all the power and connectivity you need to manage, protect, and improve your business and IT infrastructure, and it is easy to configure and manage. ThinkStation P350 Tiny provides a full set of Lenovo ThinkVantage software.

This tiny compact desktop PC and convertible workstation are built on the Intel Apollo Lake platform. It features an Intel Pentium Gold GPU, up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM, up to 2TB of storage, and a 500GB HDD.

The ThinkStation P350 Tiny is built to help you work smarter. It is the ideal office companion for people who don’t have much space in their homes. It is also ideal for small businesses that need to save space by lowering costs.

  • ThinkStation P350 Small Form Factor (SFF)

There is a new market offering from Lenovo – the ThinkStation P350 SFF – and it is an interesting alternative to the current range of small form factor ThinkStations. This is a new standard for the 2-in-1 market. It offers a full desktop experience – with an additional second screen, keyboard, and mouse – in a similar size to the current ThinkStations.

This is a very capable desktop workstation that will handle any kind of professional workload, or you can just use it as a productive gaming machine for all your favorite PC games. With a powerful AMD Ryzen™ 7 2700U processor and integrated Radeon™ RX Vega M Graphics, the P350 SFF runs any application you throw at it. With up to 16GB of DDR4 ECC memory, you’ll have plenty of memory to run your favorite Windows applications.

The Lenovo ThinkStation P350 SFF is a 14-inch business-focused Ultrabook with a sleek, stylish look. It features a powerful Intel Core i5 processor and a bright FHD display, plus a discrete NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M graphics processor with 2 GB of dedicated GDDR5 video memory. Lenovo backs the ThinkStation P350 SFF with a 3-year limited warranty.

  • ThinkStation P350 Tower (TWR)

Lenovo’s ThinkStation P350 TWR is the first to offer a fully desktop-ready system at a price that’s just a bit more than many desktop alternatives. Designed to be used as both a traditional desktop and a laptop, the ThinkStation P350 TWR is a powerful, versatile machine that can easily adapt to multiple work environments.

Lenovo’s ThinkStation P350 is a smaller, lighter version of the ThinkPad P300. An 11.6-inch display offers the same design and builds quality as the P300, but its smaller footprint makes it easier to store.

This new desktop is designed for the “Power User,” a professional or someone in the corporate world who requires higher performance hardware. It will also provide the power of a rack-mounted server, along with an improved operating system that will be more usable and less challenging.

ThinkStation P350 TWR, P350 SFF, and P350 Tiny – What’s The Difference?

The common claims about the Lenovo ThinkStation are that it’s a workstation, a computer, a server, and an entertainment center all rolled into one. It’s not true. These machines are all workstations, but they’re not identical. If you’re confused, there are three different models of the P350 workstation: the P350 TWR (thin and wide), the P350 SFF (standard form factor), and the P350 Tiny (small form factor).

Alright, so what is the difference between the Lenovo ThinkStation P350 TWR, P350 SFF, and P350 Tiny? Well, they are all essentially the same, but the SFF and Tiny are the same sizes; the difference between the two is that the SFF can have a slimline DVD drive and one, two, or three hard drives, whereas the Tiny can only have two.
